PROVISIONAL ACT
about
Provisional Act was set up in 2016 by two drama practitioners - Nicole Roman and Victoria Agache - who aim to look at real and pressing issues through comedy. The company was started from a need to express and bring to light important and relevant matters in a comic way. It has a clear vision and goal of creating theatre without refraining from employing experimental methods and delving into areas such as immersive theatre, digital and physical performances and the use of live art and comedy. Nicole, a visionary theatre maker, and Victoria, a Cannes Film Festival nominee, are committed to delivering strong visual performances dealing with hard hitting issues such as: relevant political situations, the representation of women in society and social stigmas. Since 2016, Provisional Act has turned its attention on producing and delivering high quality multi-art-form festivals in a rural area. This has resulted in 5 Arts Council supported LGBTQ+ focused arts festivals aimed at and delivered by queer artists. Our most recent and popular festival is named Loud & Queer Arts Festival - which had an online version in August 2020 - and continues to attract audiences and artists from all over the country. Nicole & Victoria also perform a drag king act that has toured around the UK in micro venues and has even reached the final of MAN UP competition. Appearances have included: WAW in Worcester, Rainbow Mill Festival, Funny Things Festival, SHOUT Festival and The Glory London. |
Nicole is an Israeli theatre maker and queer producer who specializes in LGBTQ+ festival and artistic directing. Nicole has worked with companies such as Pangaea Poetry, CAGED Arts, Severn Arts and most recently Imagineer Productions. In 2016, Nicole began her journey as co-founder and co-artistic director with Provisional Act and worked side by side with Victoria to create Twice in a Box, the company's first ever full on production. Nicole's hands on approach to directing and the behind the scenes roles help shape Provisional Act's productions. Nicole is also an alumni of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival Producers Programme in 2019. Victoria’s performance is informed by two university degrees in theatre and performance, firstly at the leading drama school in Bucharest and latterly at Worcester University, both graduated with honours. As an overseas artist, she comes with a rich cultural background and many stories to tell. She is passionate about investing in the development of the local artistic community and being involved in the progression of live theatre, meaningful ideas and expression. Victoria has acted in 3 movies and over 10 stage productions internationally and was a Cannes Film Festival nominee in 2012 for Beyond The Hills. Victoria is co-founder and co-artistic director and is a hands on professional, shaping Provisional Act's productions, especially through acting techniques and methods. Victoria has also worked with Big Brum Theatre in Education, Vamos, Bamboozle, Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and Creature Encounter. |
